If you put in the hard work and you're diligent, if you stick to the business model and really live our values of mutual respect, ongoing relationships, understanding alignment and personal best, you can be successful and it can be a very gratifying experience.

Quest has a focus on doing good in the community. How important is this to the overall Quest business model?

You need to have your ‘why?’ Individually, I think we all have our own why, but for a business you need to have a reason, it needs to be easy to articulate, and it becomes your North Star. We can't just be about the profit. It's short-sighted just to grow that bottom line. 

What are some of the ESG projects you’re most proud of?

Housing All Australians and the work we do with them is very close to my heart. With the housing crisis we have in this country and the cost of living that we are dealing with, it's even more important than ever. The knowledge that women over 50 are one of the fastest-growing homeless demographics in the country hits home and a result, we’ve made sure we have the proper support for Corporate Office staff members who choose to go and have a family. They get paid 24 weeks parental leave, and superannuation during that period. We really wanted to be on the right side of history here.

What’s David Mansfield’s ‘why’?

For me, it’s all about future generations. How do we align on partnerships now so that in 10 or 15 years time, when we're not here doing this role, whoever takes over from us can look back and say “They set it up properly and ethically.” Ultimately we are custodians of what we have. My goal is to ensure that when someone asks, “What do you do?” and they hear that you’re a Quest business owner, the reaction is, “Wow, you guys do amazing work”. It’s about how we strive harder to make a difference in the lives of everyone who engages with us.

What does the future hold for Quest?

Our brand belief that everyone deserves a place to be themselves is what principally guides us as a network, and all the decisions that we make, as well as how we engage with one another. We're going to take our network to greater heights and ensure that we achieve our vision in spades, which includes wealth creation for our franchisees.
