Quest has reached a significant sustainability milestone. Since launching our partnership with Hotels for Trees in April 2024, we have funded 20,000 trees to be planted across Australia. This achievement reflects the everyday choices of our guests, the commitment of our franchise business owners and the leadership of the 26 Quest properties currently participating in the program. 

A Simple Choice That Creates Real Environmental Impact 

The Hotels for Trees model is built on a simple idea. When a guest chooses to opt out of housekeeping, Quest reduces carbon emissions and funds the planting of a tree through Hotels for Trees. This small decision has created a powerful environmental ripple effect. 

In less than a year, the program has helped restore approximately 15 hectares of cleared land. These trees support biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems and contribute to long term regeneration of Australian landscapes. 

A Partnership Driven by Shared Purpose 

Quest’s collaboration with Hotels for Trees is grounded in a shared belief that hospitality can play a meaningful role in environmental stewardship. The program gives guests a simple and meaningful way to support regeneration efforts while enjoying a comfortable and responsible stay. That shared purpose sits at the heart of the partnership and is reflected by Hugo van Roermund from Hotels for Trees, who shared:

The Role of Our Franchise Network 

The success of this initiative is driven by the enthusiasm and commitment of our franchise business owners. Their leadership has helped embed the program into the guest experience and reflects Quest’s broader ambition to lead the way in ESG focused, purpose led hospitality. This commitment was on full display during last year’s planting day in Melbourne, where teams from Quest properties across Victoria joined volunteers from the wider Ascott network to plant saplings in partnership with 15Trees Naomi Slape, Business Owner of Quest Warrnambool, who was on-site planting trees said: 

"Our guests at Quest Warrnambool are embracing the Hotels for Trees project and I can’t wait to go back and share with them everything we are doing here today so they know the impact.”  

Every tree planted that day represented a guest’s conscious choice to give back to the planet, and the experience reinforced the pride our network feels in contributing to regeneration efforts.
