Quest Apartment Hotels Collect Over 1,000kg of Food for Foodbank Australia Winter Appeal

Supporting Australians facing food insecurity through Foodbank’s Winter Food Drive.

Quest Apartment Hotels has proudly partnered with Foodbank Australia to deliver vital support for Australians experiencing food insecurity, with more than 1,000 kilograms of food donations collected during their recent Foodbank Winter Food Drive.

Throughout July, Quest properties across the country from Perth to Penrith, welcomed contributions from guests, schools, local businesses, and community members. Donation boxes quickly filled with essential grocery items including canned goods, pasta, rice, and long-life milk, ensuring struggling households received food relief during one of the toughest times of year.

Why This Matters: Food Insecurity in Australia

Food insecurity is a growing challenge in Australia. According to the Foodbank Hunger Report, over half of food-insecure households experience the most severe hardship—meaning many people are skipping meals, cutting portion sizes, or going entire days without eating.

By acting as collection hubs, Quest Apartment Hotels provided an accessible way for Australians to contribute to the fight against hunger. Every donation, large or small, has gone directly towards helping Foodbank deliver meals to charities supporting families, students in schools, and individuals in need.

A Partnership that has a ripple effect across the Quest business

Foodbank Australia CEO, Brianna Casey, highlighted the importance of the campaign:

“The demand for food relief continues unabated, right across Australia. We know that people have been forced to make impossible choices between heating and eating, and the support of Quest Apartment Hotels, their franchise business owners, and the generosity of local communities, helps us make food one less thing for people to worry about when times are tough”

David Mansfield, Managing Director, The Ascott Limited, Australiasia, said the response demonstrates the heart of the Quest network:

“Quest properties are at the centre of communities right across Australia. Partnering with Foodbank on this winter appeal reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference for everyday Australians. I am immensely proud of how our teams and guests embraced this initiative.”

Quest Business Owners also felt the power of local connection. Kris Marinakis, Business Owner of Quest Burwood East and Mont Albert said;

“We wanted to rally our community. We reached out through local groups, businesses, internal communications, and even external signage to make our properties true donation hubs. The response was overwhelming, and delivering the donations reminded us of the real difference we can make when we come together. It shows that with a little creativity and collaboration, we can all play a part in supporting families who need it most.”

Community Impact Beyond Accommodation

While Quest Apartment Hotels is best known for providing serviced apartment accommodation, its role in local communities is equally important. Quest supports Foodbank not only through national food drives, but also by providing free accommodation to Foodbank’s corporate team, helping lower their operating costs and ensuring more funds can be directed to vital hunger relief programs.

Earlier this year, more than 70 Quest employees volunteered at Foodbank warehouses across the country, helping sort and pack food supplies for families in need.

Looking ahead, Quest and Foodbank are committed to making the Winter Food Drive an annual campaign, building on its success each year to deliver even more meals and support to Australians experiencing food insecurity.

At Quest, being at the heart of communities means more than offering a place to stay, it means standing alongside Australians in the moments that matter.
