Quest Joondalup maternity suites a winning formula for new mums

9 June 2020: WA’s first luxury maternity stay option at Quest Joondalup presents mums with an alternative to hospital stays during their first days as new parents.

The maternity package includes a two-night stay at the brand new Quest Joondalup, combining comfortable maternity suites and catering with daily midwife visits.

Quest has partnered with Ramsay Health Care to create a package for new mums which includes spacious accommodation and daily healthcare support from the nearby Joondalup Health Campus.

Alkimos mother of one, step-mother of two, Samantha Bauckham says her stay at Quest Joondalup was the ideal way for her young family to begin bonding with newborn baby Braxton.

“I’m really independent so Quest suited me perfectly,” said Samantha.

“My fiancé Jason and our kids stayed 2 nights in a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom maternity suite. There was a TV in our bedroom as well as the lounge, a bassinet, ensuite and blackout curtains.”

“The Quest suite was better than our bedroom at home – I didn’t want to leave,” added Samantha.

“The meals were tasty and the portions were large. We didn’t purchase additional catering for the kids but there was plenty to share from both our meals including fresh juices.”

Privately insured mums can access the package through Ramsay Health Care’s Joondalup Private Hospital if they have an uncomplicated birth or an uncomplicated elective caesarean section and are eligible for discharge within 24-48 hours post birth.

With a complimentary welcome hamper, the offer includes three room-service meals a day for two plus morning and afternoon tea. There are also optional upgrades including interconnecting rooms if siblings or grandparents want to stay, plus baby massages and spa services are also available.

“The bassinet, changing table and baby bath were perfect. I had a C-Section so  the regular midwife visits from Joondalup Private meant I felt safe and supported from a healthcare perspective.”

The integrated healthcare offering from Quest streamlines the transition from hospital to home through pairing comfortable accommodation with high quality, patient centred health care.

With growing demand, Quest plans to replicate this patient accommodation model throughout Australia under the Quest Healthcare Assist branded offering, from maternity suites to rooms for patients awaiting or recovering from surgery.

“Integrated hospital-hotel care is an attractive solution for both the healthcare sector and patients, freeing up hospital beds while supporting recuperation for loved ones in private, quiet and comfortable rooms”, said Quest Apartment Hotels general manager of sales Anthea Dimitrakopoulos.

“As an evolving offering, Quest Healthcare Assist will make it easier for healthcare partners to find and book suitable accommodation for patients and facilitate their specific requirements, alleviating strain on hospitals and providing a wonderful alternative for patients”.

Joondalup Private Hospital Director of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Dr Cliff Neppe said he was delighted to offer new mums a gentler transition from hospital to home, expanding the hospital’s growing range of choices for private parents.

“We are so excited to offer this fantastic experience to the mums who will be giving birth at Joondalup Private Hospital,” Dr Neppe said. “Becoming a parent is a very exciting time and this little luxury has been designed to help new mums relax, enjoy some pampering and connect with their partners after giving birth.”

“This option has long been available on the East coast but it is new here in WA and we expect it will be extremely popular. It allows parents the opportunity to bond with their newborn in stylish, peaceful surrounds whilst having hospital help close at hand.”

“The advantage of the Quest Apartment Hotels is their rooms are so much larger than a typical hotel and the complex is modern with beautiful views, so it really is a home-away-from-home experience that both comforting and relaxing.”

Samantha says her Quest Joondalup maternity stay felt more like a family vacation.

“The most important aspect for me was that we could stay together,” said Samantha.

“We packed up the X-Box and went out for walks and lunches, it was our home away from home.”
