Toowoomba to the Gold Coast is around two hours east, or you can head south-east to Brisbane in just over an hour and a half. Take a last morning stroll through Queens Park before you pack up – the gardens are at their best in the morning light – and stop at The Baker's Duck for a takeaway coffee and pastry to fuel the drive. A visit to Picnic Point for one final panoramic view over the valley is a worthy send-off.
