Bunbury

Situated between the Leschenault Inlet and Koombana Bay Beach, the accessible-accredited Quest Bunbury is ideally positioned to take advantage of the best Bunbury attractions. Here, you are a short distance to shops and other amenities, and on the doorstep of the Margaret River, with its iconic wineries and cellar doors.

Dolphin Discovery Centre
Dolphin-watching is big in Bunbury: the waters around Koombana Bay are home to a pod of around 100 wild bottlenose dolphins, and the not-for-profit Dolphin Discovery Centre is the place to learn everything about their unique habitat and behaviours. The centre also runs a popular, four-hour ‘Swim With The Dolphins’ snorkelling tour between November and April.
Market Eating House
Almost nothing at Bunbury’s Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant hits the table without being kissed by fire and flame. This is share-style eating at its best, with diners encouraged to order plates of lavish dips, barbecued and chargrilled meats and seafood, then dig in, tapas-style. The lunchtime shawarma is also a delicious way to grab lunch on the run.
Bunbury Regional Art Gallery (BRAG)
This striking candyfloss pink building is a fantastic place to explore the creativity and culture that marks Bunbury as one of the south west’s premier artistic hubs. The gallery houses a permanent City Collection, which it began acquiring in the 1940s and documents the town’s artistic evolution. There is also a dedicated Noongar Arts program that highlights the work of the First Nations artists from Wardandi Country, as well as regular rotating exhibits.
Leschenault Inlet Walk
Right on the doorstep of Quest Bunbury, this fully-sealed, five-kilometre walk around Leschenault Inlet is the place for a sunrise leg-stretch. The walk is notable for its white mangroves, a species that is almost never seen this far south. On two Saturdays per month, the loop passes by the Bunbury Markets, which are a great place to stop for a coffee and browse for souvenirs.
Capel Vale Wines
Thirty minutes south of Bunbury brings you to the cellar door of one of Margaret River’s most storied wine producers, and the first established winery in the region. The vineyard here – one of three belonging to Capel Vale – is known for its Malbec and Merlot grapes, and tastings can be enjoyed overlooking the budding vines in the warmer months, or by the fire in winter.

East Perth

Quest East Perth sits just a block away from the riverside Langley Park, the perfect place for your morning exercise. It’s also an easy journey by bus to reach many of Perth’s attractions – vibrant restaurants, cool shopping and busy business hubs. The Perth Mint
The foundation stone for the historic Perth Mint was laid in 1896, and it has been crafting and refining Australian tender ever since. Visitors can book tours to view a live molten gold pour and see the record-breaking Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin, the largest and most valuable coin in the world. There’s also a gift shop selling precious jewellery and rare pink diamonds.
The Royal Hotel
A classic Australian pub that has been thoughtfully restored, the Royal is less than 10 minutes' drive from Quest East Perth and soaked in heritage charm. Grab a table on the ornate balcony, with its metal lacework balustrade, for a round of Royale With Cheese smashburgers and a schooner or two of Pelican Lager. It’s worth keeping an eye on its weekly specials, such as Wednesday steak nights and weekend roasts.
Whipper Snapper Distillery
Perth’s very first urban distillery is one of the pioneers of the now-thriving WA whiskey industry. Its speciality is small-batch corn-based whiskey, based on an old WWII-era recipe. The distillery runs regular tastings, masterclasses and tours, and there’s also a cafe on-site serving single-origin coffee from Timely Coffee Roasters.
The West Australian Cricket Ground (WACA)
The best time to visit the WACA, the epicentre of West Australian cricket, is when the home side is taking on a rival, whether it’s a fierce battle of the states or a thrilling international fixture. In late 2025, the ground’s storied museum will reopen with a refreshed display of the site’s collection of memorabilia, sure to thrill any cricket fanatic.
Egawa An
Blink and you’ll miss this tiny, traditional omakase restaurant hidden down an East Perth laneway. The 12-course tasting menu is a series of perfectly crafted Japanese Edomae-style sushi courses that showcase extraordinary technique and attention to detail.

Kalgoorlie

There’s no welcome quite like an Australian Outback welcome, and you’ll feel it the moment you arrive at the central Quest Yelverton Kalgoorlie. Drop your bags in one of the 49 one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments, then have a quick splash in the pool before heading out to discover some of Kalgoorlie’s culture, heritage and gold-mining history, followed by an evening schooner at the Kalgoorlie Hotel.

De Bernales
This vibrant bar and bistro a few blocks from Quest Yelverton Kalgoorlie is the place to rub shoulders with Kalgoorlie locals, as well as catch a game or kick back with a little live music on weekends. There’s a huge range of beers on tap, and it’s widely agreed that the kitchen plates up the best chicken carbonara in town.
KCGM Super Pit Lookout and Tour
The Super Pit mine site is one of the top things to see in Kalgoorlie – visitors can gather on a specially constructed lookout to watch an enormous live mine in action. Make sure to check the website for the regular blast times to experience the site at its most thrilling and dynamic. You can also book tours to see the inner workings of the pit up close.
Kalgoorlie Hotel
Built in 1897 and retaining all of its heritage charm and character, the Kalgoorlie Hotel is a classic outback pub. At sunset, the best seat in the house is on the upstairs wraparound balcony, where you can watch the sky fade from blue to gold to black. The buffalo wings, served with the traditional celery sticks and blue cheese dressing sides, are irresistible.
Kalgoorlie Golf Course and Goldfields Golf Club
Golf is big in the goldfields. Surrounded by red dirt and towering gums, the Kalgoorlie Golf Course has a Graham Marsh-designed 18-hole course, and the team at the pro shop and the Waterhole Bar and Bistro is knowledgeable and welcoming to both locals and out-of-towners. A quirky bonus: you may find yourself sharing the course with kangaroos.
Karlkurla Bushland Park
Just a short way out of town, this 200-hectare area of regenerated bushland has been developed into a peaceful community park. A visit here is a great family-friendly activity, especially in the wildflower season between August and November. For the extra energetic, the Kalgoorlie Park Run is held each Saturday from 8AM.
