The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery is proud to be the only venue in Victoria presenting the Archibald Prize in 2014. Commencing at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1921, the current prize of $75,000 is awarded annually to the best portrait, 'preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics, painted by any resident in Australasia'. MPRG will be open Tuesday- Sunday 10am- 5.30pm Open Melbourne Cup long weekend, including Monday 3 November and Tuesday 4 November. Open late Fridays until 8pm. Closed all other Mondays. Entry every quarter hour from 10am- 4.30pm (7pm on Fridays). Arrive promptly to minimise delay (you have 60 minutes to view the exhibition).
