Next, drive a little over 90 minutes west to Toowoomba, the friendly inland destination known in the state as Garden City thanks to its swathes of greenery and annual Carnival of Flowers. Gold Coast

Perfectly-positioned to take advantage of everything the southern Gold Coast has to offer, the pet-friendly Quest Robina is within walking distance of the shops and eateries of Robina Town Centre. Eddy + Wolff
Serving Asian fusion dishes and with its sleek, moody interior, this gem just a seven-minute drive from Quest Robina is consistently excellent. Everything on the menu is a hit – whether you order from the BBQ, Snacks or A Bit Bigger section – but be sure to try the soy sauce ice cream with chilli crumb and soy caramel.
Morans Falls
A lush hinterland of dramatic rock formations and roaring waterfalls awaits for those willing to venture off the path a little. The Morans Falls track in the Lamington National Park is a 4.4-kilometre round trip through figs and box brush, and ends overlooking the spectacular Morans Creek gorge.
Miami Marketta
Strung with fairy lights and home to food trucks and cocktail bars, Miami Marketta is the kind of back-alley food wonderland that would be at home in a New York neighbourhood or Thai street festival. Open Wednesday to Saturdays from 5pm, the Marketta hosts events, gigs and a constant party vibe, just a 15-minute drive from Quest Robina.
Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre
The Burleigh headland walk is one of the coast’s most popular, but the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre lets you experience it through a First Nations lens. Significant to the people of the Yugambeh Language Region, Burleigh Heads was once a feasting site for travellers passing through, and with a local First Nations guide you’ll pass by important cultural sites and learn where to source bush tucker.
Home Of The Arts (HOTA)
Home Of The Arts (HOTA) in Surfers Paradise is an impressive Gold Coast initiative to invest in the region’s arts scene. With over 2000 square metres of exhibition space, and stretching six storeys, HOTA is the largest public gallery in the country outside a capital city. A never-ending rotation of music, art, comedy and theatre makes it an enchanting addition to the local cultural landscape.

Brisbane

Pet-friendly and accessible-accredited, Quest Breakfast Creek in Albion is the perfect base from which to explore the local neighbourhood and the wider city beyond. Take an evening stroll down Kingsford Smith Drive to enjoy the balmy sunset over the river or simply cross the road to experience the famous, French Renaissance-style Breakfast Creek Hotel –  however you wish to fill your days, we can’t wait to welcome you to your home away from home.

Go Boat
The Brisbane River snakes through the city’s neighbourhoods, linking many of the capital’s waterside bars, restaurants and sweeping parkland, too. Rent an electric picnic boat 300 metres from Quest Breakfast Creek (no boat licence required) and putter up the water with an esky full of charcuterie. Got your furry best mate with you? They’re welcome aboard, too.
Picnic Cafe
A fifteen-minute drive south-west from Quest Breakfast Creek will bring you to Picnic in the vibey West End, a breezy brunch spot where the coffee and irresistible baked goods guarantee there is a line around the corner most weekends. Once you’ve nabbed a table, order the baklava beignets: fried choux pastry tossed in sumac and cinnamon sugar, spiced creme patissiere, honey and rose syrup, with a pistachio crumb, raspberry sorbet and dried rose petals to top it all off.
Soak Bathhouse
A short walk from Picnic, perched on the roof of a building, is an inner-city oasis of calm. Soak Bathhouse has a collection of mineral pools, a steam room, sauna and cold plunge nestled within tranquil greenery. Pour yourself a cup of herbal tea and melt into the serenity.
Breakfast Creek Hotel
If Wes Anderson made a movie about Australia, he’d probably film it at the Breakfast Creek Hotel, an ornate pub iconic to the Brisbane entertainment scene. A breezy beer garden with a food offering that spans Tweed Heads prawns to house-smoked pork belly offers a more laidback option to the always-excellent Spanish Garden Steakhouse, where more than 10 cuts of beef jostle for attention on the menu.
Howard Smith Wharves
With bars like Felons Brewing Co, upmarket dining spots like Stanley and Greca, and the more casual Betty’s Burgers for when you want to grab and go sit on the communal green, Howard Smith Wharves – which lies in the shadows of the iconic Story Bridge – is a destination unto itself.

Toowoomba

With 74 apartment-style rooms, some of which overlook the lush Queen’s Park (one of the city’s oldest spots) the pet-friendly Quest Toowoomba is an oasis within walking distance of some of the town’s most popular attractions. It’s next to Fitzy’s pub, a local institution where you can tuck into what might be one of Queensland’s best steaks, and also just a short walk from the buzz of Ruthven St and the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.

The Baker’s Duck
Flaky croissants, wood-fired sourdough and glossy Danishes pepper the menu at The Baker’s Duck, the best spot in town to load up on treats and coffee for breakfast. Eat in or take your haul down to Queens Park and Botanic Gardens to enjoy the morning sunshine among the flowers.
Gummingurru ceremonial site
Used as a ceremonial site up until the 19th Century on the country of the Jarowair Aboriginal people, Gummingurru is steeped in sacred history. Book a tour with a Traditional Custodian to experience the stories of the site and view stone artefacts that belong to Jarowair culture.
Picnic Point Parklands
Less than 10 minutes in the car from Quest Toowoomba, Picnic Point Parklands is the place to get your bearings, with panoramic vistas over the Lockyer Valley and Tabletop Mountain. Stick around for a bite at the restaurant, or to watch the sunset as the twinkling lights of Brisbane in the distance blink into view.
Cobb+Co Museum
Part of the Queensland Museum network and home to the National Carriage Collection, Cobb+Co is a surprise package in a serene setting, a short drive from Quest Toowoomba. Enjoy interactive science experiments with the kids, take a walk through the colourful history of horse-drawn carriages or let the little ones play shopkeeper in the old Museum General Store.
Host Dining + Wine Bar
Located on popular Ruthven St, Host is a casual, cool eatery that was awarded a Chef’s Hat soon after it opened in 2016. The ‘Just Feed Me’ menu lets you be guided by the chef, who’ll dish up morsels like slow-cooked lamb, kingfish crudo and BBQ octopus.
