Ever wondered what it's like to work in PR & Partnerships in the accommodation space? Quest is looking for someone with that special spark to take on the role of PR & Partnerships Manager within the wider Marketing & Digital team. Team member Madi gives the inside scoop on the role and what the new team member can expect from working at Quest.

So you're the PR & Partnerships Manager at Quest, what does that actually mean?
The role of PR & Partnerships Manager at Quest is broad, fast-paced and no two days are the same! You’re constantly learning, growing, being challenged and (most importantly) having fun!
In this position I set and implement the corporate and consumer PR strategy and manage all earned media activity. This includes support to business owners and helping them with day-to-day media opportunities. Meanwhile, in my partnership’s role, I have had the privilege of working with incredible charities, consumer brands and touring groups to make an impact, connect with new audiences and enrich the guest experience.
Give us a brief rundown of a day in your life.
I start the day by undertaking media monitoring and following up on any critical items, before jumping into my to-do list. This consists of anything from new property and opening announcements, corporate communications, working with our charity partners on various initiatives, supporting the network on local PR activity and engaging with brand partners.
I work closely with various business units across Quest, so my role is super collaborative. Throughout the day, I typically have a couple of meetings to ensure we’re aligned and all striving towards shared goals and objectives.
What surprised you most about Quest when you joined?
I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I have LOVED working in the accommodation sector – it’s seriously such a great industry, full of terrific people! As a PR person, the hotel sector and in particular this role will allow you a wide breadth of opportunities and experiences. From corporate affairs right through to fun consumer news stories, it is a super dynamic role which I’ve absolutely loved!

Can you share some insight into the Marketing & Digital team?
I will really miss the Marketing & Digital team at Quest. It’s full of bright, passionate and hard working people who are all incredibly gifted in their respective areas. Everyone has their own specialist function, which is great because there’s lots of strategic autonomy, but we are also very supportive of one and other, so when things are busy, it’s all hands on deck! It’s important that the person who steps into this role is a team player.
What should this new team member bring to the table?
We are a small, high performing team, so it’s important that the new person is driven to succeed and realise their potential. Having just launched our As Local As You Like It brand platform, and with some major projects planned for 2022 and beyond, it will be essential to have good planning and time management skills. It’s going to be a busy time, but one that will also be highly rewarding for the right candidate!

Favourite project you've been a part of?
Over the past 18 months, I’ve been part of a working group which is leading the way for the business in the corporate social responsibility space. At Quest, there’s an immense appreciation for the importance of doing social good and holding ourselves accountable for taking decisive action, in particular to reduce our environmental footprint. There’s still lots of work to do in this space, but I’m proud of my contribution and wish the team all the very best as they deliver more incredible outcomes and initiatives over the months and years to come.
What do you love most about working with Quest?
Two things… The first is that I have worked with people who really care about you. It’s the fact that your colleagues check in on you if they know you’ve had a busy week to ask how you’re doing, and it’s also the incredible support and development which is provided by leadership. I’m really grateful for the attentiveness and authenticity of the people at Quest. I feel like I have grown so much professionally and personally!
Secondly, I’ve loved being part of a team that is not satisfied with ‘good enough’. Everyone is passionate about driving change and taking our brand and guest experience to new heights!
