Darwin Aviation Museum
Darwin’s Aviation Centre is an experience not to be missed with impressive aircraft, engine and relicts on display. Australia’s aviation history holds significant historic prominence in the Northern Territory. During World War II Darwin was hit with over 60 air raids by Japanese fighters.
Many visitors are drawn to the amazing B52 Bomber from the United States Air Force which entered service in 1955 and is the only one on display in the Southern Hemisphere. The bomber was designed to attack strategic targets such as enemy cities. Other displays include the Spitfire, a Royal Australian Navy Wessex helicopter and crashed aircraft remains. Take a guided tour and explore the history with presentations and footage including the only known colour recorded first air raid in Darwin.
