“Unprecedented” growth sees Quest open five new Melbourne properties within seven months

July 2018 – Quest Apartment Hotels has announced it will open five new Melbourne hotels within the Melbourne metro area in the next seven months to meet the accommodation needs of the extended-stay business traveller.

Melbourne remains Quest’s heartland, with founder and Chairman Paul Constantinou establishing the first Quest property in 1988, Quest Royal Gardens in Fitzroy. The city has remained a priority region within Quest’s assertive international growth strategy.

In addition to Quest Maribyrnong and Quest Epping, which opened in late June and July, Quest will be opening properties in Notting Hill, St Kilda Road and NewQuay, creating approximately 125 jobs. The addition of these hotels will bring Quest’s total number of Melbourne properties to 47, offering 3,169 rooms across the city.

STR, the source for benchmarking, analytics and marketplace insights for the hospitality industry, believes Quest’s activity in the Melbourne market is unmatched.

“In the past decade, no other single brand has opened so many properties in one year in one market”, said Matthew Burke, STR Regional Manager Pacific.

Quest General Manager – Growth James Shields described the city’s building activity as “unprecedented” but necessary to meet the future needs of its valued guests.

“Melbourne has long been recognised as the most liveable city in the world, and is attracting more and more residents and investment. This growth, paired with the continued urbanisation of the metro area presents a huge opportunity for new Quest properties. Our growing number of corporate guests need to move around the city for their work and Quest will be there to meet their accommodation requirements,” Mr Shields said.

“Major projects such as Melbourne Metro, Level Crossing removal project and the West Gate Tunnel demonstrate the investment and interest in the state and have been major drivers for many new Quest properties.”

In addition to growth within the Melbourne market, Quest’s 2017 partnership with Singapore-based The Ascott Limited has offered Quest guests the benefit of true global reach across 29 countries in the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.
“Quest now has the capability to offer customers a true global accommodation solution, while maintaining the successful franchise business model that has been key to the steady growth of the businesses’ Australasian property portfolio,” Mr Shields said.

Quest will open 13 new properties in Australia, New Zealand and the UK in the next 18 months. In addition to the five new Melbourne hotels, Quest will open properties in South Perth (WA); Penrith and Orange (NSW); Quest on Manchester, Quest Tauranga Central, Quest on Tuam and Quest Mount Eden (NZ); and Liverpool (UK).
